Falling Behind, Pouring Ahead

Listening to: Temple of the Dog’s Hunger Strike

We haven’t carved pumpkins yet this year. I don’t even have my Fall décor up because it’s stuffed away in my storage unit. I’m planning to move my storage again, to a cheaper place, but can’t really do that until I get paid again. Or I can ask Mom, but I’ve already paid for next month. I just need a moving truck and the unit and most importantly, time. Also another person would help with that stupid exercise bike. At least Vivian has her costume and we have some plans for trick-or-treating. It’ll be tight but I’ll be able to enjoy. I’m off early, surprisingly enough.

Yesterday at work, I had gotten there and found that I was stationed in our special owner’s room. With a modest three table section, it felt manageable. The first table was waiting for a tour guide to show them around our facility so they didn’t need much help, especially when the tour guide arrived. Then my second table was also being hosted by a tour guide so that was annoying. I’m just standing around, looking pretty at this point. The tour guide from the second table had another tour so he handed it over to me, which was fine. They literally bought forty bottles of wine which made my day. I get a small commission off of those bottles. Then the tour guide from the first table came in as a guest to meet a friend so I waited on her and she was really impressed. She said I had a great disposition and that I will go far at the company. We’ll see. It’s only been six months and I haven’t rage-applied at random jobs online yet. Today was an even better day! One table bought thirty bottles and then other guests throughout the day brought my total to a whopping forty-four bottles. That’s a new record for me. I keep getting shout outs in the morning debriefs but I’m never scheduled that early to be there and hear it. However, the general manager acknowledged me and then gave me a fist bump for today’s victory. Great success. Next month’s check is going be nice with all of those commissions. I’ll have some money to play with at the coast for Mum’s trip.
