About Me

Well, hi there!

My name is Megan Chelsea Mimieux.

It’s French, however, I’m not French.

Nor is my name really Megan.

That’s another story.

Why I choose to hide behind a pseudonym is my prerogative, not yours. Call me names and tell me that I’m intimidated to show my true form, you would be absolutely right, except for the name-calling bit.

In words of a Southern nature, “I is what I is”.

So, what is I?

I’m an INFJ-T Leo and a single millennial mother navigating the 21st century, documenting the annals (lol) of life with a fresh set of beer goggles, minus the beer. Conservative in nature, I encourage myself to attend church at least once a month, although haven’t found an in-person sermonizer that can fill my soul spiritually.

Yep, you guessed it: I’m a crazy, Caucasian, Right-Wing “South Park” Republican with a penchant for history. I like my politics and I love my Jesus, but I won’t be pushing my opinion on anyone (Paul is Dead though, that’s just a fact). Yes, I know, as Christians, it’s our duty to spread the word of Christ, but I also understand that people don’t want religion shoved down their throats (more Heaven for me, idiots). You see, I’m one of those too-self-aware-to-function adults. I’m always paying attention to what’s going on and can’t be in anyone’s way, even by accident. I get overstimulated easily, crowded rooms annoy me, and I feel the need to control my surroundings at all times (airplane travel is a nightmare). I avoid confrontation like Covid, so forcing someone to believe my religious or political opinions isn’t on my to-do list. On the plus side, I excel in public speaking and have been considered a leader in my career.

Speaking of career, currently I work in the Enotourism field as a tasting room server at a local vineyard. Before that, I was working fulltime and really hating life. My job now gives me time to live my life, spend quality time with my child. It’s pretty remarkable that my job now pays just about the same as my old job, but with less stress. I have finally decided what I want to be when I grow up, which is a professional trainer in the hospitality and tourism sector of the Food and Beverage industry. This requires gathering certificates which will take time.

I grew up in the ‘burbs of what is considered a “Playground for the Rich and Elite”. Being surrounded by the glitz of old Hollywood and just 100 miles from LA, I always wanted to be famous. Self-proclaimed triple threat, I had an opportunity presented to me from a talent agency, however my father either truly didn’t have the money or didn’t believe in me enough. Who knows, that’s the fun. Dad raised me and now, we’re semi-close. Mum and I, we’re very close despite her “journey” in my childhood. My folks were never married so technically I fall in the same category as Jon Snow (we’re bastards!). I have no siblings. I grew up as one of those weird only-child kids, neglected yet spoiled. It’s taken a lot of maturing and witnessing other family’s chemistry to understand what’s important when it comes to kin. I have an estranged Uncle on my mom’s side who has instructed his children not to contact us and my Dad’s brother never married or had kids, so I truly did grow up alone, consistently surrounded by adults. I grew up in a home with no pictures of my evolution gracing the walls like normal families. It was Ansel Adams photography and motorcycles. I thought the day would never come when my “I wanna be famous” dream would die but here we are.

What a strange existence.

I have a daughter, Vivian. She’s my light, my reason to be. She’s under ten and with my recent recovery in full swing, I’m learning to deal with the grief of all the time I’ve lost being a drunken fool while cherishing the time that I have with her now. She’s on the spectrum and I feel so blessed that her Dad and I can coparent together. We’ve reached the right resources when it comes to handling her “ism”. She’s an amazing reader for her age and does very well in writing and arithmetic. Her social skills could use some work, just like everyone else. To me, she’s brilliant, funny, and so incredibly kind. Her manners are impeccable! I couldn’t be more proud of my baby. That’s one side. On the other side, she can absolutely drive me up the wall with her bad attitude and smart-ass remarks. She has been known to tear me down on occasion but every time, I come back stronger and more patient.

As far as a relationship status goes, I’m in a relationship with Vivian’s father. He and I have had a roller-coaster romance that’s lasted over ten years now. He’s done some things, I’ve done some things, however at this stage in our relationship, we’ve decided to move forward together, carefully. Relationships aren’t always straight lines, and ours certainly hasn’t been.

I’m a recovering alcoholic addict with less than a year of sobriety, look out world! I’m a dangerous drinker, starting my drunken oblivion about 15 years ago which got exponentially worse as time progressed. You would think a drunk in public charge and a DUI would prevent me from getting a second DUI but apparently I like to learn lessons the hard way. In the last seven years, it had gotten so bad that I couldn’t hold down a job… My vulnerable testimony can be found on the Recovery page of this site, along with a timer to hold my ass accountable and resources to help yourself if need be. Stay grounded!

Besides being a diary of my adventures, this website also features a recovery resources page, including that embarrassing testimony since I’m a recovering alcoholic addict. There’s my quiet passion- photography: intimate pictures shot by yours truly on my phone. And there’s also my list of currents, what I’m currently listening to on repeat, watching, reading, etc. Check it out and thanks for dropping by!
