Megan Mimieux: The pretty protagonist and delightfully neurotic narrator. Equal parts sunshine and raincloud, she’s a SoCal girl at heart making the Pacific Northwest her home. Discover more on the About Me page.
Vivian: Also known as Viv or Bear. Megan’s daughter, greatest adventure, and the reason she strives to be a better person every day. Equal parts imaginative, hilarious, and wonderfully unique, she keeps life colorful and constantly reminds Megan to see the world through fresh eyes.
Mum: Also known as Madonna, The matriarch of this cast and Megan’s biggest cheerleader. More like a best friend, their history has been very tumultuous. Perhaps it is because they’re so similar, being related and all. Recently Megan decided to move back in to repair their relationship for the last time. She’s resilient, funny, fiercely independent, and always ready with an opinion. She may drive Megan crazy from time to time, but life would be much quieter—and far less interesting—without her.
Mark: Vivian’s father and Megan’s ex-boyfriend. They met while working at a drugstore about ten years ago. Their relationship has been on and off for most of the time they’ve known each other. Megan has decided not to reconcile, like ever. He’s a good Dad to Vivian but not a good companion for Megan.
Amber: A bestie of over ten years. Megan met her through work but got to know her more through Anna, a mutual work friend. She’s a stable person with a good head on her shoulders and has a child the same age as Viv.
Ruby: Another bestie of almost ten years, introduced through mutual friends. She’s loud, outspoken, and a great person to be around. She and Megan have too much in common, as does Amber. Megan is so glad to have gotten to know her better after having a not-so-impressive first greet.
Maddy: A fellow coworker and best friend. She and Megan worked together and bonded during their tenure. She has a few screws loose upstairs but had an extremely rough childhood so instead of judging her from afar like the rest of their crew, Megan decided to befriend her. Their children are roughly the same age.
Leo: Also known as Leonidas, Megan’s father. He’s a good spirited, self-motivated man with an odd and egotistical past, however Megan remains supportive from afar as he lives in another state while dreaming of relocating across seas.
Kim: Leo’s new wife, who is very foreign and very young. About Megan’s age. She and Megan have not met as of yet, but hopefully that will change.
SUPPORTING CAST
Jackie: Also known as Kiddo. Mark’s teenaged daughter and Vivian’s sister. She lives in another state but Megan and Jackie got along very well with fond memories of baking and playing Uno when Jackie was a little girl. She and Vivian get along so well.
Jewel: A friend. Megan met her through Amber. She’s crafty, creative and is the total Mom package with four little ones of her own. She was incredibly supportive in Megan’s greatest time of need, including driving her to the hospital when she was in labor.
Ms. Clancy: Megan’s ex-Boss. Being theater kids, they both got along well and saw eye-to-eye on a lot of things. Ms. Clancy was a chatterbox and somewhat of a “Chicken Little” as the head of their flock/department. In the end, Megan didn’t feel supported enough and wanted something better.
Kai: A friend of twenty-five years that Megan has always made time for when visiting down South. They were enemies in middle school but besties in high school. Now they rarely speak.
Yadira: Leo’s ex- girlfriend. She was very supportive and subservient to Leo’s needs which in turn meant she was very supportive to Megan.
Ricky: Also known as Jopa. He’s “the one that got away”. He and Megan worked together in the past and had a couple flings but were more best friends than lovers. He was the typical chef that loved classic rock and philosophical literature.
Anna: A truly messed-up ex-friend. Megan used to work with her as a fellow manager. She’s an artist/author with unpredictable motives and a two-faced attitude.
Jimmy: Megan’s piece of shit ex-fiancé. His deceitful nature bought him a ticket straight out of Megan’s life after their year long relationship crumbled to the ground. He has been shunned but the memories still tragically remain.
The Landlord: a sweet and kind old soul. He allowed Megan to move in and start a new life after hers had imploded. Sadly he passed away years ago but has left a lasting impression of stability and patient influence on Megan’s life.
George: Mark’s younger brother. A Trump loving-Redneck sort that lives a complicated life a few towns over.
Jack: Megan’s ex-boyfriend. He and Megan met in high school through Kai. He was a raging alcoholic and Megan couldn’t deal with someone so compatible. She truly loved him but couldn’t see their future together. Mark may have had something to do with it as well.
Lee: The Ex of all exes. A cretin whose very name makes Megan’s blood boil. This is the Muppet that she wasted her youth, energy, time, resources, and money on. Being eleven years younger, Megan found herself taking care of a jobless, cross-dressing, needy, drug-addicted child rather than the smart and capable boyfriend that he had presented online. They dated for five and a half years. After finding herself homeless and jobless, unable to continue life with this tumor, she eventually stepped away and moved back home with Leonidas. He was, is, and will always be human garbage.
Pinkie: A former best friend from primary school. She was Megan’s backyard neighbor as a child. When Megan moved away, they lost touch but by a stroke of luck found each other in an entirely different city ten years later. They remained best friends until having a fallout which led to an even bigger falling out, involving Adam.
Adam: An ex-boyfriend. The ex that forced Megan to relocate. At the end of his marriage to Pinkie, Megan stepped in hoping she would have the same kind of dynamic relationship but things ended in utter chaos, leaving Megan without her longest known friend.
Ursula: Megan’s ex-stepmother and former boss. She married Leo just after Megan graduated from high school, gave her an office job, and helped her learn what it takes to be professional. Unfortunately they no longer speak as the legal battle between her and Leo ended in flames.
